With more than 20 years of experience in the wireless radio industry, James Hong, director of systems engineering, has overall responsibility for the team that designs and installs Motorola’s Point-to-Point (PTP) Wireless Group’s wireless broadband products to customers worldwide .
Mr. Hong also oversees Motorola PTP’s new product beta testing program, all technical training, and the group’s pre- and post-sales field engineering support.
Mr. Hong joined Motorola as a result of the company’s acquisition of Orthogon Systems. Prior to joining Orthogon Systems, Mr. Hong served as senior systems engineer for Western Multiplex and Proxim Corp., where he was responsible for designing large and complex wide area wireless networks for telco, enterprise, and wireless ISP markets worldwide.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Hong founded and sold an ISP, Future Vision LLC. During his tenure at Future Vision, he engineered and maintained over 100 microwave wireless data communication systems for customers throughout the U.S. and Brazil .
Earlier in his career, Mr. Hong worked in the healthcare industry where he managed corporate information systems projects. He is an amateur radio operator active on HF through 10 GHz bands and has received factory training and certification from eight of the industry-leading wireless equipment manufacturers .
