The E-rate has become a major source of funding
for schools that need to extend their internal and external connections
to the Internet. While many K-12 licensees have obtained e-rate funding,
the experts believe that there is also an opportunity for other ITFS licensees
to provide E-rate eligible interconnection services. This presentation describes
the E-rate process and how it might be applied to ITFS to provide high speed
Internet connection in both analog and two-way digital. |

In the two way world-the engineering designs
for the interactive use of ITFS/MMDS are the most complex that the FCC has
seen - the hardware and software are still being designed and tested - and
licensees, `not the FCC, will have the task of protecting their systems
against harmful interference. This session will provide managers with a
basic understanding of two-way systems, the potential effects of interference,
and the steps to take to protect the technical integrity of their systems.
